Client Problem: To make the Edinburgh Anatomical Museum more accessible to members of the public, allowing anyone from anywhere, explore the museum at anytime .
Luma Solution: Luma was asked to develop a 3D interactive mobile tour app of the Edinburgh Anatomical Museum.
Working closely with the University’s Anatomy department, Luma digitally recreated the Edinburgh University Anatomical Building and many of its internal spaces and specimens, incorporating explorable panoramic views and audio guided tour of these fascinating spaces, most of which are normally inaccessible to the public.
We digitally scanned and recreated a number of the key items from the universities collection including the Skeleton of the infamous murderer Burke and cast of the skull of King Robert the Bruce.
This app allows for the first time, members of the public to fully explore what is a not only a world class centre of Anatomical teaching but also a fascinating part of Edinburgh and medical sciences history.
Outcome: Now accessible to visitors worldwide.
